MEET OUR VETERINARIANS
Michael Tuder, DVM
Dr. Michael Tuder is a graduate of PHU National
University. A warm and caring veterinarian, Dr. Tuder has been practicing in Hudson County since 1982 and is a past President
of the New Jersey Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.
In April
2006, Dr. Tuder became the only Board Certified Veterinary Laser Surgeon in the
metropolitan area as determined by the Veterinary Laser Surgical Society.
Dr. Tuder has been providing veterinary services for Bayonne, Hoboken, Jersey City and
other areas with their rabies control programs for many years. In
addition, he is the City Veterinarian for Bayonne and Hoboken. Dr. Tuder is also
accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture for International
Animal Transport. He has been in practice for 26 years and is married with
two children. His hobbies include golf and tennis, and he especially
enjoys traveling. At the present he has two standard poodles named
"Kasey"
& "Max".
Lisa Capelli-Truppner,
DVM
Dr. Capelli has
been practicing with us since her 1997 graduation from Michigan State University
and specializes in small animal medicine.
She was born and raised in Hoboken with extensive family
still living in town.
Dr. Capelli is married to her wonderful husband,
Bobby and her hobbies include water sports, boating and tennis. She loves
traveling and the beach. Dr. Capelli has 4 cats named "Baxter", "Sammy",
"Jenny" and "Miss Presley".
Janirka S.R. Ponce, DVM
Dr. Ponce has been with us as an associate
veterinarian since 2001. She earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine
from Kansas State University with a specialty in small animal medicine.
Dr. Ponce loves to travel, read (both for leisure and for her profession) and
enjoys great food. She cherishes her parents and family and she loves all
animals, especially her amazing miniature schnauzer and partner-in-crime,
"Dali".
Victor T. Rendano
Jr., VMD, MS, DACVR, DACVR(RO)
Board certified in Radiology and Radiation Oncology
Dr. Rendano graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of
Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and received his Doctorate in
Veterinary Medicine in 1972.
Following
veterinary school, he continued his studies by
completing an internship and residency at the University
of Guelph and a Master of Science Degree at Washington
State University.
After finishing
a rigorous training program, he was inducted as a diplomate into the American
College of Veterinary Radiology and received his board certification 1975.
In 1976, Dr. Rendano accepted a tenure track faculty position in the Department
of Clinical Sciences at Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr.
Rendano worked at Cornell as an associate professor and senior radiology
clinician for 20 years. In 1996, Dr. Rendano retired from his position at
Cornell Veterinary School in order to study radiation oncology and pursue a
career in private practice. Having completed his radiation oncology
studies at Cornell University, Colorado State University, University of
Wisconsin, Washington State University and the SUNY Medical Center in Syracuse,
New York, Dr. Rendano was awarded board certification in veterinary radiation
oncology in 2001. Dr. Rendano has published over 100 papers and has lectured
throughout the world. The New York State Veterinary Medical Society and the
University of Pennsylvania Alumni Society have honored him for his outstanding
career and his dedication to the veterinary profession. A firm believer in
veterinary continuing education, Dr. Rendano has offered radiology film reading
sessions, ultrasound lectures and wet labs to primary care veterinarians.
Ken Heilpern, VMD
Dr. Ken
Heilpern is originally from New City, NY. He received his Bachelor of Science
Degree in Animal Science from Cornell University in 1997. He earned his
Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (Latin for Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) from
the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. He is accredited by the USDA for
International Health Certificates.
He is happily
married to his wonderful wife, Alyse. They have 3 children a daughter named
Charlotte, a dog named Desdemona and a cat named Amelia. In his spare time he
enjoys spending time with family, surfing the internet, and poker.
Alanna Chesney,
DVM
Dr. Chesney has a B.S. in Biology from William and Mary College and earned her
DVM Degree from Cornell University. She grew up with a golden retriever and a
horse. Dr. Chesney rode horseback competitively throughout high school and
college. She currently lives in Manhattan with her husband, a corporate lawyer
and Mrs. Magoo, their little old rescue poodle-mix. Among her hobbies, Dr.
Chesney enjoys trying to cook, reading and hopefully starting to ride again.
Kristen Simko, VMD
Dr. Simko received her Bachelor of Science Degree
in Biology from the University of Notre Dame and her Veterinariae Medicinae
Doctoris degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She grew up in Manalapan,
NJ and is happy to finally be back in the area. Dr. Simko currently lives in
Hoboken and is enjoying city life with her dog, “Toby”, and cat, “Foster”.
Vivian Ng,
DVM
Dr. Vivian Ng is originally from Brooklyn, NY. She
received her Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern
University in Boston, MA. After college she stayed
in Boston to do research at the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology for a few years before she moved on to
veterinary school in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the
University of Prince Edward Island. She is happy
to be close to her roots again and strives to maintain
the health and well-being of her own animal family and
the companion animals that are her patients.
Dr. Vivian Ng currently lives in Jersey City with "Copa"
the cat, "Sophie" the hamster, " Smiley" the shih tzu
and the visiting family pets "Ding Dong", "Sumo" and
"Boy Boy".
Christopher
Shapley, DVM
Dr. Shapley received his Bachelor of Science Degree in
Biology and Master Of Science in Conservation Biology
from Montclair State University. He received his
Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Western University
of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. Dr. Shapley grew
up in Toms River, NJ where he and his mother were
volunteer wildlife rehabilitators for the Pinelands
Sanctuary for Wildlife. He has trained in multiple
martial arts styles and ridden horseback since he was a
child. Dr. Shapley currently resides in Glen
Ridge, NJ with his two dogs, Bogey and Pearl. In his
spare time he enjoys swimming, surfing and continuing
his training in the martial arts.
Tracy McCormack, DVM
Dr. McCormack was born in Philadelphia and grew up in
southern New Jersey. She earned her B.S. from Drexel
University in Philadelphia and her DVM from the Ohio
State University in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. McCormack
currently lives in New York with her husband and two
cats, Foo (a rescued diabetic) and Sophia. In her free
time she enjoys exploring the city and its many
cuisines, seeing live music and traveling. In the
winter you can find her on a mountain snowboarding.
Jolanta Niedbalska, DVM
Dr. Jolanta was born and raised in Poland, and although
she has lived in New Jersey for 20 years now, she
remains fluent in Polish. She received her B.S. in
Biology from Seton Hall University and D.V.M. degree
from St. George's University School of Veterinary
Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Jolanta is happy
to finally return home to her family and beloved Boxer,
"Junior". At home she enjoys outdoor activities
with her niece, nephews and dog as well as traveling and
reading.
Brittany
Gray, DVM
Dr. Gray received her Bachelor of Science at Quinnipiac
University and her DVM at Western University in
beautiful Southern California. Although she
enjoyed her time on the west coast, she couldn't wait to
return to her hometown of Ringwood, NJ. Dr. Gray
currently resides back in Ringwood where she is enjoying
life in the suburbs with her dog, "Kody," and cat,
"Potter". In her free time, Dr. Gray loves to run,
ski, travel and spend time with family and friends.
Linnia Munro, DVM
Dr. Munro received her B.S. from Colorado State
University and her D.V.M. degree from Oregon State
University - College of Veterinary Medicine. She
currently lives in Manhattan with her husband, Dan, and
two dogs, Riley and Bruser. She loves to travel, hike
with her dogs and is an avid runner, having recently
completed her first marathon.
Kate Norby, DVM
Dr. Norby received her BS in Biology from Washington and
Lee University in Lexington, VA and her DVM from Ross
University School of Veterinary Medicine in beautiful
St. Kitts, West Indies. She completed her veterinary
clinical year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Although Dr. Norby has lived all over, she was raised in
Pt. Pleasant, NJ and is thrilled to be so close to
family and friends once again. She currently resides in
Hudson County with her rescued island cat (and love of
her life), "Stuart".
