Integrative Medicine

As we advance our Integrative Medicine Department, we are proud to offer acupuncture and laser therapy services as additional treatment options for your beloved cat or dog.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy has been shown to increase circulation, provide pain relief and muscle relaxation to ease chronic back and arthritis pain.

Laser therapy can provide remarkable relief from chronic pain.  During each painless treatment, laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area.  This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain.

Veterinary Acupuncture

Acupuncture is commonly used in human medicine to ease chronic pain as well as help with other chronic diseases (including chronic stomach troubles, weakness from age, anxiety, and many other chronic internal diseases).  Acupuncture involves stimulating specific points on the body in order to release endorphins (for pain relief and relaxation) as well as to stimulate/support specific trouble organs (the stomach for vomiting, for example).

In addition to addressing "modern medicine" complaints, an acupuncture consult also includes an "Eastern" or Chinese medicine evaluation in which the concept of balancing Qi for whole body heath will be explained and applied to your pet.

Please feel free to pick up a pamphlet from our office or call for more specific information about these treatments and to see if your pet could benefit by adding acupuncture or laser therapy to their overall care.

Acupuncture sessions must be scheduled in advance but questions may be directed toward any of our staff members or to Dr. Chesney.
